The new barn
and indoor arena at Lily Creek Ridge were completed in 2000. Conveniently
located, just west of Freeport, Illinois, the facility is family owned
and operated. It is a comfortable place for the horses as well as the
riders, with many amenities for training and/or boarding sport horses.
The 72 x 142 Arena has 16 ft. rafters.
Starting young
horses is our specialty. Gentle, consistent handling assures you a quiet,
well-rounded horse that is ready to continue specialized training. Mike
Prinz begins all young horses in the round pen.
Criteria for starting young horses includes the following:
-
Long lining, non-resistance training and T-Touch, are a part of the
training experience.
-
No training is forced. Your horse will end his sessions with a positive
experience.
-
Each horse is treated as an individual.
We believe that
learning is like a step-pyramid. A major focus is to have no "holes" in
each horse's education.
Training packages
are offered throughout the year. Each horse is evaluated prior to training.
We will tailor a training program especially for your horse and your goals.
Young horses that are sold may remain at the farm for training.
